SWIFT

this is an attempt to put into words of why taylor means so much to me through the years. it’s brief but i think to the point. i’ll be forever proud of you taylor swift.

Taylor Alison Swift. I’ve been a fan since 2006. right about the time of this picture is when I first heard her song Tim McGraw. my sister’s friend was over, we were watching ondemand videos and she said to me, “leah, there’s this girl on here who sings country music that I think you would like.” my sister’s friend melissa, doesn’t listen to country or anything like that but came across her and thought I would like her because she knew I listened to country. so she found her video and played it for me….I don’t remember exactly my reaction or words I said, but I instantly was a big fan. we watched that video over and over and over that day. I couldn’t get enough of it. and I’ve been supporting her ever since. I was fifteen years old when I first heard Taylor. that summer I had gotten my first real boyfriend. Him and his family were very musical and I wanted to learn how to play guitar. He started to teach me but then we broke up and I had a brand new guitar that I didn’t know how to play. Around that time Taylor’s GAC A Place In This World special was on, and I had it DVR’d on my tv..I sat down in front of my tv watching her hands and matching them up with the chords I had looked up on ultimate-gutiar. She taught me how to play. In 2007 I first seen her in concert with Tim McGraw and Faith Hill with my mom. We were so high up but I was so excited to see her. She just walked around the circle stage with her guitar, that’s when Emily was still playing with her. and Taylor’s show was so simple. I am now twenty-one years old, seven concerts under my belt, though I haven’t met her yet, Taylor has been there for me for the majority of my teenage years. First love, breakups, growing up, not fitting in, losing friends, and trying to be myself. I wouldn’t be the same person without her or any artist in country music. country music is my life and always will be no matter how many alternative/pop punk shows I go to…I’ll never love any genre of music more than I do country.
